I am honored to walk alongside you as you navigate life challenges and move towards healing. I use a number of different brain- and body-focused modalities in addition to traditional evidence-based interventions to help create a unique, client-centered pathway to positive mental health and fulfilling life experiences and relationships.
Jea Theis is a licensed independent mental health counselor and clinical social worker in Colorado (LCSW) and Nebraska (LICSW, LIMHP). Jea has been working in the social services and mental health field for twenty years, starting out in the area of family violence, as a men's domestic violence counselor and CPS worker. After completing her MSW degree, Jea practiced in a community mental health counseling center, worked as a social worker and grief counselor for a home and hospice agency, and has spent the last decade in private practice. She has spent many years working children, teens adults and families impacted by loss, trauma and challenging life transitions.
Jea has received specialized training in Expressive Arts Therapy, EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, CPP (Child-Parent Psychotherapy), TFCBT (Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Parent-child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Teacher-Child Interaction Training (TCIT), and Compassion Fatigue/Empathic Strain. Jea is passionate about increasing awareness around secondary traumatic stress, providing education and consultation to agencies and supporting those working in helping professions in our community.
Jea is a co-founder of Omaha Therapy and Arts Collaborative (OTAC), an innovative mental health practice that opened April 2016. In Fall 2022, Jea also co-founded NExT Foundation (Nebraska Expressive Arts Therapy Foundation), a non-profit organization in Omaha with a mission of bringing Expressive Arts and Mental Health care to marginalized and underserved members of the community.

Jea Theis Therapy is a counseling service that provides mental health support to individuals, couples and families. In-person and telehealth options are available. In-person therapy services are offered at two locations: Greenwood Village, CO and Omaha, NE.
